The ClubHouse Reports
June 12 - 15, 2008
This trip saw another 40 lb fish taken by Alan Leisten. He took this fish with his guide’s help at Andrews Point in closer to shore, and this fish was the largest of the trip. There were four other tyee on the trip, including Ian Walton fishing with me at Cohoe Point, where we grabbed a 30 lber, took some photos and carefully released it after a tough scrap. Bud Stafford found a 35 lber with his guest Andy Swarthout fishing well off Cohoe Point in the deep. Sometimes you never know when and where they will show up. Bud nailed this fish on his tricky top secret whole 5 inch herring, carefully rigged in a clear teaser head. He whispered he was fishing 60 feet. Douglas Silver had a nice 33 lber and Charles Ronkos snuck a 30 into the dock, well done everyone.
The chinook fishing is spotty for sure with a few fish here and there but no major run to date. Now is the time to really take care on all your rigging and treat all hits with some intensity. We are getting fish but working hard for all chinook at the present time. Carefully check your leaders, keep the hooks sharp, and put in the time and you will get some nice chinook. The pinks are showing now and can be a nuisance, so you might have to move around a bit to avoid accidental contact haha. Some of the guides will switch to spoons and plugs during these pink frenzies.
The weather looks good wind-wise for the next few days so I am sure we will have a great report over the next week as all areas will be fishable. If there are chinook between Naden Harbour and the west side of Langara our guides will find them. On behalf of the guides we can not wait to get all of you out there and fishing. We promise to make your trip fun, entertaining and show you some great chinook and hali fishing.
See you soon!
