This trip the Chinook seemed to be scattered and it was anybody’s guess as to where they were. Lacy Island, Boulder Bay, The Lighthouse, Jalun River, Cohoe Point, Mcphearson Point….No rock was left unturned. It was not a numbers game out there but most guests who put in the time managed to find a couple of decent fish. 

The first afternoon Ron Pollon and Barry Wilson of the Hallmark group jumped right in finding a patch of fish early with guide “Mad Dog” and loading a tote with 3 fish in the mid to high twenties. Schooling pinks were hard to shake at times keeping things busy out there for everyone firing down the firecracker herring. “Big” Dave Pollon’s patience paid off finding a 41 lb Chinook after several hours of limited Chinook bites and proving that sticking it out can sometimes be the answer. Being the only female on the trip didn’t stop Dori Guterson from leaving her mark with a 30lb Spring off Boulder Bay on day three.

Once again, most guests chose to chase halibut for at least one shift and the action for “Chickens” was consistent. Today the southerly winds have brought us a little liquid sunshine and with it I anticipate a few more numbers of Chinook.
