North Island Lodge Reports
August 1 - 4, 2008
The trend continues this week with a mix of Chinook and Coho in the area. Although numbers of Chinook were down a little, some very nice fish were caught. Bill Riss started his trip in style catching a 55lber fishing with guide Matt Wiley off the Cabbage Patch….Not a bad start.
Day two saw an increase in activity with Coho averaging 11lbs and a few more Chinook including Dan Koval’s 33lber and Glen Graham’s 41. The big fish seem to be out there, and I have to say, on a per fish basis there’s not a bad size average this year.
The tail portion of the trip was the same story with guests loading up on Coho and working hard for their Chinook. However, on Sunday we saw a decent bite with several Chinook in the teens to high twenties taken.
The weather is beautiful at the moment with minimal wind and sunny skies, some very civilized fishing to be had right now. You have got to like salmon fishing in August!
