The Outpost Reports
Aug 18 - 22, 2008
Back to back trips the Multistack Exclusive group of guests brought excellent weather, calm seas and great fishing to The Outpost. These 12 anglers caught 36 Chinook ranging from 16 – 34 lbs, 32 Coho ranging from 8 – 14 lbs and 22 Halibut ranging from 15 – 150 lbs. Brian Buchanan, coached by Steve (The Log) Cote, caught the largest Chinook of the trip when he landed his 34 lb Tyee at Selveson in 60 feet of water on a cut plug. Brian also caught his personal largest fish a 101 lb Halibut which he harpooned at Louis Rock in 220 feet of water.
The story of the trip was eighty – four years young Mr. Bill Hoemberg. Bill limited out in all categories capturing first place in the derby. An incredible performance Bill….and this is the second season in a row he has performed this amazing feat! Cam Lowry caught the largest Halibut of the trip when he harpooned his 150 lb monster. There were many celebrations during the evening and Jan Gorski entertained everyone with his delightful sense of humor.
The fishing has been excellent for the month of August. There has been an abundance of Chinook, Coho, Halibut and Ling Cod. The Humpback Whales are still in the area and the Eagles continue to soar back and fourth in front of the lodge. Many thanks to Multistack for their support of the Local Salmon Enhancement and Local Stream and Habitat Restoration here in the Charlottes….have a healthy and prosperous year gentlemen….see you next season!
