The Outpost Reports
July 21 – 25, 2008
Good day sunshine! It seems every time the Tom Lund group of guests comes to the Outpost they bring sunshine and calm seas. The Lund, Uveland and Vatner group of guests took advantage of this good fortune and had a great trip. Killer whales also entertained everyone during the week as three enormous bulls and countless calves moved into the area.
Dorothy and Stephen Vatner found Tyee silver on the second and third day of the trip. Dorothy, coached by Robert (Picasso) Gordy, caught a 33 lb Chinook at Selveson in 77 feet of water on a cut plug. The Tyee jumped three times and burned off 100 yards of line on the first run. Robert also coached Stephen Vatner when he landed his 30 lb Chinook at Selveson in 73 feet of water using a coyote spoon. Stephen leaped from his seat when he saw the rod jump, grabbed the rod as the fish quickly took off on him. There were several long runs before Stephen landed his prize fish.
Congratulations to Kristine Muth for releasing a 150 lb Hali. Coached by Steve (The Log) Cote Kris caught the monster at Flamingo Rock in 160 feet of water….great job Kristine….see you all next year, please don’t forget the sunshine!
