June 2 - 6, 2008

Welcome to the Outpost Lodge 2008. Our new team of hospitality professionals is excited about delivering a world class guest service experience on and off the water in one of the most pristine wilderness environments on earth. This season our team will be introducing new concepts that will enhance your exceptional fishing adventure.

The June 2 – 6 trip set the tone for 2008 when Mark Sawicki caught the first Tyee of the season. Coached by Head Guide Derek “Fruitbat” Fraser, Mark caught his 30 lb Spring off of Hippa using a clendon spoon in 88 feet of water. It was a sign of great things to come. Dick Minato, coached by Steve “The Log” Cote landed a 117 lb Hali at Selveson Point in 200 feet of water. Dick also wasted no time establishing a new Tyee mark when he landed his 39 lb Spring at 3 Rocks using a flasher with teaser head in 80 feet of water. The sea lions have been far and few between catches and there has been an abundance of Humpback Whales in the area…..it’s always nice to welcome them back from their vacation in Hawaii!

Willie Pushke was on fire at the start of the June 6 – 9 trip. Willie, coached by Robert “Picasso” Gordy landed a 39 lb Spring at Selveson using a blue teaser head in 44 feet of water on the first day and then a 36 lb Spring at Selveson using a green teaser head in 73 feet of water on the second day of the trip. We were all cheering for Willie to get the Tyee Hat Trick when Chuck Burnfield stunned everyone with his 42 lb Spring. Chuck, coached by “Stormin” Norman Hann, caught and released his prize fish at 3 Rocks. The fish hit an army truck clendon spoon in 97 feet of water. It is the biggest fish Chuck has caught in the 5 years he has been coming to the Outpost. He also set the benchmark for the June Spring Salmon Challenge Derby! Great job Chuck & Stormin, thanks for making the Outpost Lodge proud to be the leader in the Derby……that wasn’t an earthquake Langara it was just us doing the Derby Dance!

Our young talented Chefs Mike and Mikey have been consistently exceeding guest expectations. The guests have been raving about their passion for creating the ultimate culinary experience. Milan “Davy Cricket”  and I have been trail blazing seeking out new guest hiking adventures through our magnificent rain forest. For those that choose to explore the coastline, we are also mapping out sea kayaking excursions that will take you to a paradise of undiscovered bays and coves. At the Outpost our guests have the opportunity to enjoy both a rewarding fishing adventure and a rare wilderness experience…..see you soon!
