Here we go with another fishing report from The Outpost and what’s been happening of late as we make our way toward the end of the season.
Overall, the fishing has remained steady, with plenty of good days still being had on the water. Chinook fishing continues to be consistent, with some nice mid-twenty-pound fish showing up. It’s always good to see quality Chinook around this late in the season, and we’ve had some great fish making their way back to the dock.
The Coho have been a little more hit and miss. Some days they have been willing to cooperate, and other days it has taken a bit more patience to find them. Putting in the time has been paying off, though, and guests who have stuck with it have been rewarded with some nice Coho. As is often the case, when they decide to show up, you want to be ready.
The weather has also been keeping us on our toes. Anyone who spends time in Haida Gwaii knows how quickly things can change, and this time of year is no different. Some days we seem to get a little bit of everything. The guides have been doing a great job adjusting to the conditions, changing plans when needed, and finding opportunities to keep guests on the fish.

With the season beginning to wind down, the crew at The OP is still bringing the same effort every day. It has been a long season and there have been plenty of hours put in, but everyone remains focused on making sure the final trips are every bit as memorable as the first. The guides continue to work hard, share their knowledge of these waters, and make the most of whatever the day gives them.
There is something a little different about this part of the season. The weather starts to remind us that fall isn’t far away, the days on the water feel a little more valuable, and you start to notice the season slowly changing around you. That said, there are still plenty of fish around and plenty of opportunities for a great day.
That’s fishing in Haida Gwaii. You never quite know what the next tide, the next morning, or the next run around the corner will bring, and that’s a big part of what keeps it interesting.
We’re looking forward to making the most of the remaining trips here at the OP. The Chinook are still showing, the Coho are keeping everyone guessing, and the weather continues to keep things interesting. There are still fish to be caught, stories to be told, and a few more days on the water before we wrap up another season.
Until next report, thanks for checking in.
