Hello from The Outpost,
The Tyee Release Board is shaping up nicely here in Port Louis.
After a few weeks of tricky weather, things have turned around. Calm mornings, steady tides, and just the right amount of patience have come together to create some seriously memorable moments on the water. The guides have been able to tuck into their favourite spots again, and the results speak for themselves.
Here’s a look at the Tyee releases so far this season:
Here’s a look at some of the beauties that have come to the boat - and, in most cases, made their way right back into the water.
We’ve also started seeing the first waves of coho. They’re not thick yet, but just enough are showing up to keep rods bouncing and add some variety to the action. A few chrome flashes, the odd bonus take, and that telltale chaos at the back of the boat that only coho can bring.
What really sets The Outpost apart is the strong catch-and-release culture. The vast majority of Tyees this season have been caught, celebrated, photographed, and released — giving others a shot at their own fish-of-a-lifetime. It’s something we take pride in, and a big thank you goes out to our guests for helping keep this fishery healthy.
Looking ahead, things are lining up nicely. There’s more bait showing up around the usual points, and the guides are marking good fish on the sonar. If the weather continues to cooperate, we could be heading into one of the best stretches of the season.
The board’s far from full, and the best may still be to come.
See you out there,
Shawn Crawford, General Manager
